The Third International Storytelling Festival in Thailand

Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University, in collaboration with Mahasarakham University, Surindra Rajabhat University, Regional Centre for Archaeology and Fine Arts (SPAFA), and Hue University from Vietnam, held the Third International Storytelling Festival in Thailand during January 22nd– 23rd, 2015, at the Language and Computer Center, Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. The purpose of this festival was to use storytelling as a medium to create learning opportunities in terms of language, moral and ethics to reflect back to honor our ancestors’ values, beliefs and the traditional ways of teaching.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chanin Vaseenonta, President of Sakon Nakhon Rajabhat University. The activities consisted of workshops for storytelling techniques, international storyteller’s showcases, and a storytelling contest. The 36 storytellers were from Thailand, the United States of America, South Korea, the Philippines, India, Taiwan, Myanmar, Singapore, and Vietnam. Also 500 attendees taking part in this project were teachers, students from primary schools, secondary schools and higher education.
